Ohio State Patrol Trooper Blintz Falco Loves IWS Radio

Good Saturday and Happy Labor Day Weekend to you all.  This is Ohio State Patrol Trooper Blintz Falco
coming to you in a well-uniformed manner on behalf of IWS Radio.

Labor Day Weekend is a great time to have a cookout, light some state-approved fireworks, and mingle in a non-sexual way with your closest of kin, however..

Labor Day Weekend is not, I repeat not...A time to get carried away in the giddiness of a three-day weekend, and drink and drive.

If you're going to drink...don't drive.  If you're going to drive...don't drink, and better yet?

Schedule your cookout and drinking after 2 PM, so you can maintain some sobriety while listening to the comedic wit and wisdom of Jay, Matt, and the IWS Radio Players from Noon-2 PM ET on Blog Talk Radio.

IWS Radio has a HUGE Labor Day Weekend Show scheduled.  As the PR Department of IWS reported, it will go something like this:

August may be coming to a close, but football season is just now kicking off.  The dogs days of summer are waning and being tempered by the fun and frozen fundraising of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but of course…

There are plenty of killjoys and nitpickers who have found fault with how some people video their worthy ice water dousing.  So, join Jay, Matt, and the IWS Radio Players as they discuss the 2014 NCAA and NFL football seasons, their experiences with the Ice Bucket Challenge, and how not to let the haters get you down.

All of that plus Jerry Lewis, Sarah Silverman, and your phone calls at 661.244.9852 on this week’s IWS Radio Show.

I was told that Bobby Kraft, Dixie Ozark, Martin, Slyder Balzcock, Buddy Acapella, and Tammy Tibbles will be chiming in as well.

I hope you will heed my warning and listen to IWS Radio tomorrow from 1200-1400 hours ET.  It beats going out drinking and driving, is far less costly, and nearly as funny.

Have a Happy Labor Day Weekend, and Let's Be Careful Out There,

Ohio State Trooper Blintz Falco

Easy Crockpot Chili Recipe

Cheeeeeeers everybody, and Happy Hump Day.

Y’know?  Now that football season is in full swing and Lady Autumn is here with her cooler temps, many folks will be throwing Saturday and/or Sunday football parties in their homes.

Along with the typical chips, dips, wings, and the like, a great football party can be made even more rollicking with some awesome, crowd pleasing chili.

I plan on making chili in a couple of weeks when I take a Saturday off to enjoy a full day of College Football.  It is an easy, and uber-tasty crock pot chili.

Here’s what Easy Five Bean Crockpot Chili ala Matt-Man entails…

Tomatoes, Tomato Paste, Dark Red Kidney Beans, Northern, Black Beans, Lima Beans, and Light Red Kidney Beans...If you’d like, which I do from time to time is replace the one of the kidney beans with butter beans.  But anyhoo…

Not too many spices...Chili Powder, Paprika, Oregano, Garlic, and a secret one which is not shown that replaces Cumin...Liquid Smoke.  Liquid Smoke makes everything better.  A few tablespoons of that into the mix, and bar the door Katy, it’s a TOUCHDOWN!!

These are da bomb!! Frozen and already diced onions and bell peppers. Fresh may be best, but too many of us end up wasting them.  So, this an inexpensive and practical way to go.

The MEAT!! Two pounds of ground beef, and one pound of sausage which I will slightly brown off with Worcestershire Sauce prior to crocking it. I also add real bacon pieces.

I would use REAL bacon, but I cannot bring myself to use sliced bacon for this. Sliced bacon stands on its own, and should be consumed that way!!

The cookery...or, is that, crockery? Anyhoo. This is my newest crockpot. Isn't she sexy and voluptuous?

I call her, Samantha. Samantha came with a 2, 4, and 6 quart bowl. I always use the 4 quart bowl.  The 2 is too small, and the 6 quart bowl, I only use when cooking up meth, so it may have toxic residue in it.

There you have it. After six to eight hours of simmering, Samantha will be ready to yield her juicy, meaty, and delicious wares.

A great accompaniment with the chili is Cheesy Onion Cornbread

Just prepare a box of any inexpensive cornbread mix per instructions, but add some of the frozen onions and bell pepper, along with shredded cheese of your choice and voila!!  Rustic goodness in its most delicious form…

Your friends, fans, and fellow football watchers will give you the game ball with two thumbs up.

Five Bean Crockpot Chili and Cheesy Onion Cornbread…Easy and delicious, just like me.

Cheers!!

Ohio State Football Fans and All Americans Are Stupid

Cheeeeeeeeers Chuckleheads!!

I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend and that football fans everywhere enjoyed their first full weekend of the 2013 NFL and NCAA football season.

There were a lot of great games, last minutes heroics, but mostly, drunken shenanigans in the name of football, and I appreciate that.

I love this time of year.  It is still summer, but the nights are sometimes cool, and there is of course, the glory and partying associated with football taking place.

This time of year is like Christmas in September and Labor Day in December, and no matter which way you slice it or parse it, those two holidays are analogous…or not.

Anyhoo…

I do have a problem with football fans these days and a problem with football in general.  Want to hear my problems with the sport and/or event that we call football?  No?

Good, and I am anxious to write about it.

Over the past decade, the number of football fans has exploded, but here’s the thing.  Many of these so-called fans, aren’t really football fans.

They are at best sunshine football patriots who enjoy throwing a party, a feeling of belonging, and at faux fandom’s worst…

Get to weave their hard life realities into the game day dialogue about “their team.”

Y’know?  That last one…the “my team thing?”  That drives me crazy!!

I don’t know about you, but here in Ohio, ninety percent of the college football “fans” are Ohio State fans.

And for some odd reason, the ninety-nine percent of OSU fans of whom I speak, have no personal association, connection, nor anything in common with OSU other than they are both located in Ohio, and like those who do attend OSU, the fans can neither read nor write.

I’m not an entirely stupid guy, but one thing I have never understood, is this slobbering, incoherent, live and die, cry if “my team” loses, mindset.  OSU fans that I know are like this, and I am sure that there are many more.

Okay so you went to school there and even if you weren’t on the team you can be an uber fan, but if you didn’t go there and are still a voracious fan, you have issues…issues with which, I am intrigued, but would rather know nothing about.

NFL fans are just as bad, and as they are typically older, it may even be a bit more disturbing…

I am eighty miles from Paul Brown Stadium and three times that distance from Cleveland and yet, on a weekend basis during football season, I will see at least three dozen grown men wearing OSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Bengals and/or Browns jerseys etc…

And I say to myself…

“Self, why are there jersey wearing adult men and women crying over a loss and celebrating over a win with which they had nothing to do…other than to watch others do it?”

See?  It’s okay to wear a tasteful T-Shirt or what not in order to show some subtle and tasteful support fro a team, but when a grown person wears a jersey, it only exacerbates that abnormal thought in their head that they are part of the team.

So please, stop it.  It’s getting out of hand.

I actually read on Facebook this week a comment from a Steelers fan commenting to one of his friends…

“Don’t talk to me until your team has won five Super Bowls like mine has.”

I am sure….well, I hope he was joking…but it was the, “I am actually on the team” feel in his comment that gave me a case of the goo.

The worse thing is, this fanatic feeling of rooting for and wanting to win, has invaded our psyche, the governing of our nation, and the political discourse that takes place in the media.

Listen to Sean Hannity, Rachel Maddow, The Five, and Chris Matthews on TV for a couple of days, and you’ll find…

They are just like an Ohio State football fan, they don’t care why, or what has to happen to make it so; they just want to win.

Because winning and being like everybody else, and better who they think themselves to be individually, is far more important than due diligence and common sense.

Cheers!!

Matt Said, Jay Said 8002822882

Matt places the football.  Jay kicks the football.  You watch the football split the uprights.

Matt:  Helloooooooo?
Jay:  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!?
Matt:  Yes, and I won’t have to turn down the sound on the TV this season, because you just shattered my ear drums.
Jay:  Man, bummer.
Matt:  Okay…okay…the hearing is coming back now.
Jay:  Good thing.  Kinda hard to do a radio show if you can’t hear.  Just ask Rush Limbaugh.
Matt:  I know…and unlike gas bag Limbaugh, my temporary hearing loss wasn’t even oxycontin related.

Jay:  Speaking of gas…This Sunday, we should talk about what’s going on and may go on in Syria.
Matt:  Oh I guess so…I mean, since nobody else on Talk Radio, Cable TV, or blogs is covering it.
Jay:  Ha!!  Oh My God!!  Who knew that FOX News and MSNBC had so many damn experts on Syria?
Matt:  It’s as if Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow grew up together in Damascus, Jayman.
Jay:  Okay, so we can talk about our predictions about where this Syria thing is going to go.

Matt:  Sounds good, and oh, by the way…What was for sup tonight?
Jay:  I went crazy and had McDonald’s tonight.
Matt:  Sweet.  Did you get the #6 meal?  The one with the Double Cheeseburger as usual?
Jay:  Nope.  I was feeling MANLY this evening so I upped my game, and got the Quarter Pounder meal.
Matt:  Holy Cow.  No wonder you are so worked up.
Jay:  I AM FEELING GREAT!!
Matt:  Ouch!! My ears again…Damn!!  Did they put Yelling Salts in your meal?

Jay:  Sorry, but c’mon…This is the perfect time of year to be MANLY.
Matt:  Damn right.  The NFL Season kicks off in earnest this Sunday.
Jay:  YEAH BA----Sorry.  Yeah Baby!!
Matt:  We have to talk some football.
Jay:  Damn straight. I mean, who doesn’t like football?
Matt:  Communists and Euro Trash bitches!!
Jay:  And fuckin’ Mao-Tse-Tounge-Lickers.

Matt:  We can make some predictions for the 2013-14 season, and who will wind up in the Super Bowl.
Jay:  We can talk about some of our favorite and least favorite announcers.
Matt:  Overrated and Underrated players.
Jay:  Things that women should make their men to eat while watching the game.
Matt:  Sweet!!

Jay:  Also, I know that Drew Peacock and Bobby Kraft have something to say, and perhaps Martin will have some meditations as well.

Matt:  Sounds awesome…Slyder Balzcock is going to add his insight, along with musings from Stubby Stonehenge and Paul Piatt, as well.

Jay:  This is gonna be a HUGE SHOW…Sorry.
Matt:  Ouch!! Damn that Quarter Pounder meal…but yes it is.
Jay:  The show is missing only one thing.
Matt:  What’s that?

Jay:  A football field sized chat room full of live listeners…
Matt:  And a Syrian refugee camp sized switchboard full of live callers.
Jay and Matt:  Let’s Doooo Iiiiiiiiit!!

Matt:  So, folks need to listen to IWS Radio LIVE tomorrow from Noon-2 PM ET on Blog Talk Radio.
Jay:  If they do, their children will be spared a gas attack.
Matt:  If they don’t, everyone on their Fantasy Football team will break his leg.
Jay:  Bombs Away and Hike!!
